The Beauty of the Barrel, as part of LA Beer Week in Santa Monica from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Ten breweries all be pouring barrel-aged beer, but four distillers will be bringing barrel-aged spirits. Attendees get unlimited pours of beer. Tickets are just $40 and are limited to 125. Also, there’s the 2nd Annual Craft for Crap

Around the Clock: 24 Hour Donut City II starts Saturday at noon and goes until Sunday at noon. This Sunday at 10:30 a.m., ForYourArt will be hosting a donut panel that occurs simultaneously with their 24-hour donut pop-up. LACMA and For Your Art coordinated these events to promote Christian Marclay's screening of "The Clock," which will be showing across the street at the LACMA'S Bing Theater. Every 2 hours, a new set of donuts from LA’s best donut shops will be offered for free at the ForYourArt space! Admission is free too!

Theatrical plays, music festival, and silent auction is how the Lankershim Block Party does it on Saturday in North Hollywood. Suggested donation starts at $10 for a single event up to $60 for an all access pass.

     You have more than back to school rush hour traffic to look forward to this evening because at 5:30 p.m., “Taste of Old Pasadena” starts.  For only $30, you’ll get to sample food and drinks from more than 30 of Old Pasadena’s most popular restaurants, including Bar Celona, Vertical Wine Bistro, and Il Fornaio. Proceeds benefit several local charities.

     Later at 8:30 p.m., check out Breton at The Echo, a truly audio visual adventure. Tickets range between $8 and $10.

     It’s “Odd Thursdays” free comedy show at 9:00 p.m. in Los Feliz.  Today is also the start of “LA Beer Week”, with events in LA and the OC. There’s an opening event at Far Bar in Little Tokyo for $40.  LA Beer Week ends on September 30th.

Also in the 90210, Rodeo Drive hosts Ice Cream Sundays for three weeks starting September 16. Complimentary ice cream, gelato, Italian ice, frozen yogurt, and more, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Cheap Chix L.A. Weekend: September 7th - 9th

After work, go and Dance Downtown at 6:30 p.m. for the Samba! Or there's The Original Lobster Festival in Long Beach all weekend long for $13 admission. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are hosting the L.A. Greek Fest, which also going on until Sunday. Admission is free tonight and $3 on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, September 8th

Starting at noon, make your way to A Taste of Koreatown. Admission is only $2 and vendors only accept cash.  You could also get a taste of Pasadena at Good Eats Pasadena or free tastes at Menchie's in Culver City with complimentary frozen yogurt to celebrate Guest Appreciation Weekend!

It’s Brazilian Day, a free event at La Brea Tar Pits featuring a Brazilian carnival celebration.  Nearby, LACMA will have a Good Food Pie Contest at 2:00 p.m.

On the east side of town, there’s the NELA Art Walk and the East LA Bike Ride, which will include some non-biking activities and events.
